SEST - System Performance
Beam Size & Efficiency

Twice a year, the beam is mapped at 3mm, 2mm and 1mm by observing planets in order to check beam shape and size (FWHM). In addition, these tests yield the continuum levels for the planets and thus allow to check the beam efficiencies and thus to monitor the surface integrity of the telescope.
