The observing time is split between Sweden and ESO on a monthly basis. Regarding proposals for observing time, the year is divided into two semesters:
April 1 - September 30
|
October 1 - March 31
|
Deadlines for submission of proposals are:
October 15 and April 15 (Swedish
Time proposal)
|
October 1 and April 1 (ESO
Time proposals)
|
There are two programme commitees; a Swedish commitee assesses proposals for
Swedish time and proposals for ESO time are dealt with the ESO OPC (Observing
Programme Committee).
Note that because of the warm and relatively humid conditions during the Chilean
summer, use of the highest frequency receivers is restricted to the winter months
(June through September).
